Chairman’s Welcome

Welcome to the 23rd year of the Highland Week of International Curling at Aviemore. During this time popularity of “the Week” has continued to grow, and indeed this year such was the response from overseas that the number of Scottish rinks has been reduced to nine

Once again the event is being sponsored by Glenfarclas Malt Whisky, to whom we are all due thanks to their continued support. I would like to think that this event will continue for long into the future, but at the time of writing there is considerable uncertainty about the future of the Aviemore Ice Rink, although the Stakis Organisation has promised us the facility for 1990.

Sadly, some well kent faces from the committee are missing this year. Sandra and Dennis South find they cannot take part due to other commitments and Helen Munro has not been enjoying the best of health. I would like to thank them for all the work that have done in the past towards the success of the event.

Finlay I would like to thank you, and all the other curlers competing, for coming to make this event one of the most enjoyable bonspiels in the curling calendar, and hope that you’ll long be fit to caa a dram

Good Curling
